Participating Families Receive Their Books

Marien Armstrong is a family portrait photographer from San Antonio, Texas who seeks to uplift the disability community through photographic portraits.

In May of 2020, Armstrong realized that the COVID-19 pandemic had impacted the disability community in many ways that were unique to them. In a desire to shed light on these new challenges families living with disabilities were facing, Armstrong began the Together We Adapt project. This book is the result of many months photographing and gathering stories and experiences from over a dozen families. Armstrong hopes that future generations will be able to look back and have an understanding of how things were for the disability community at this unique time in History.
